Joe Burden

Drums and percussion

Burden teaches at the Draisen-Edwards store in Anderson. The Charlotte, N.C., native studied business management at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and has played regular percussion gigs since the 1980s.  He has lived in Pendleton, S.C., since 1985.  Burden, 44, started formal drum lessons at age 9 and played with rock, metal and pop bands throughout the ’80s and ’90s. He currently is playing in a country/blues band with two Nashville session players.  Burden counts among his playing influences Jeff Pocaro (Toto), Don Henley (The Eagles), Nigel Olsson (Elton John), Phil Rudd (AC/DC) and Steve Gadd (session player).  He and his wife, Lisa, have one daughter, Tara, and a wonderful new granddaughter, Kylie. When not playing or teaching, Burden is a huge sports fan – especially of the nearby Clemson University football team. Most of all, though, he enjoys spending time with his family and little Kylie.
