Robert Rieve
Violin/Viola

Rieve’s education started with a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of South Carolina. He later got his master’s in viola performance from USC as well. He also has a real-estate license. Rieve’s teaching experience includes time in Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools and Rock Hill School District 3. He has also taught at Winthrop and Emory universities and has a private studio of approximately 40 viola and violin students He is currently a core member of the Atlanta Opera Orchestra’s viola section, is in the viola section for the Atlanta Ballet and also plays with the Columbus Symphony, Chamber Music Atlanta and Gwinnett Philharmonic. Rieve appeared on MTV’s “Unplugged” program in 1991; he also played with the Crested Butte Music Festival in Colorado, was principal viola of the Missouri Chamber Orchestra, participated in the Chautauqua Music Festival and is a frequent contributor to Strings magazine His interests include running, hiking, baseball, reading, traveling and learning foreign languages.
